M1.4 Blog Assignment: List of Environmental Exposures
I found our first class discussion regarding the environmental exposures around us to be shocking. I had always known that there were exposures around us that were hazardous to our health, however I never took the time to list out the potential exposures around me. The list of exposures our group compiled was longer than I had initially assumed and most could be found in all four categories: home, school, workplace, and community. This was only the first class discussion and I have already begun to look at everything around me differently in regards to how it can impact my health. For example, our office had just received boxes of Lucky Charms but during our class discussion, we discussed how glyphosate was found in cereals. This discussion had deterred me from consuming the cereal, when I normally would have.
Hi Jaclyn!
ReplyDeleteGreat post, I completely agree with you. I too knew these exposures were out there but when the list just grew more and more during the in-class assignment I was shocked. My group was actually the one to mention the glyphosate in the cereals and that was my same reaction when I read the article for myself. Makes you really start to think what you put into your body.

Hi Jaclyn!
ReplyDeleteThis class was full of surprises, I agree. It's hard to believe that cereal vsn be poisonous! Im having a similar experience with my box of Quaker oats at home - I can't get myself to throw them out yet but I won't eat them! I hope your work provides some safer alternatives!
